Beginners Guide to eCommerce - 'HTML Know-How'
by Palyn Peterson

In my opinion, it is vital that you learn HTML.

Some eCommerce hosting sites offer have pre-generated pages or wizards to help create your content, but if you do not have the ability to go in and edit the HTML code, your store will look cookie-cutter and unprofessional. Customers will not want to buy from a site they think is run by an amateur.  I'm not saying you will fail and sell nothing, but you will certainly sell a lot less.

There are many web design companies out there that can make you a very professional website.  Theses services can easily run into the thousands of dollars at $40-$100 an hour.

Until you are ready to pay for a professional design service, your best bet is to just learn the HTML and know how to make web pages yourself.  If you enjoy it and get good enough at it, then maybe you won't ever need or want to pay for a design service!

Guess what? HTML is a piece of cake, you'll catch on in no time.

With the cool HTML programs available today, like Frontpage and Dreamweaver, you can learn HTML by designing the site through a graphical interface, then look at watch as the code is created.

Go to Google and search for HTML tutorial.

Go to a bookstore and pick up a guide!

At least learn the basics.
